DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the Tomato Club! A gathering for the art of growing\, enjoying and exploring all things tomato. Please RSVP to Margaret at (626) 375-2322 by noon the Friday before and you will receive driving instructions and confirmation of your attendance. Message here to contact Poe Run Craft and Provisions. \nYour first time is free. Regularly a $5 suggested donation. Tomato Club runs through October or when the tomato plants decide they’re done. \nNo blood sweat and tears\, just a chance to gather\, appreciate and expand on our curiosities. Twice monthly\, program is based on the tomato growing season. \nWhat we’re doing:\n1) DO: Tomato plant care basics like tickling\, pinching and tying up. Our first tomatoes are ripening but those plants still need tending\n2) MAKE & TASTE: Make Mom’s homemade pizza in cast iron\n3) EXPLORE: Cookbook review and family recipes to share. Bring your favorites and we’ll have a throw down of ideas \nWear sturdy shoes and casual clothes. Plan to be outdoors for half the time. Poe Run Craft and Provisions is a working homestead. It is a mountainside property and partially off grid. The terrain is variable and may not be suitable for all people. We will do our best to accommodate anyone who wants to come. Each gathering includes time in the garden. \nFuture topics/activities include what foods go great with tomatoes\, how to dehydrate and ferment tomatoes\, what to do with green tomatoes\, home canning\, worm farming and comfrey fertilizer\, National Tomato Month\, recipe swap\, seed exchange\, community art project and tomato inspired gifts.
