DESCRIPTION:Hooray\, she’s coming back!\nLast spring\, we invited Odeya Nini to lead a workshop and Voice Bath; we are so happy to announce that she will be back this month to offer this again\, and more. \nFree The Resonant Voice\n6pm Friday 10/18 – 3pm Sunday 10/20\nSaranam Retreat Center\, Montrose \nThis workshop is dedicated to sensing the voice\, strengthening our relationship with it\, and realizing the healing effects we have when we use our voice with intention and love. We will explore sound as touch\, practice exercises to clear mental and physical expression\, develop the imagination\, and invite awareness. \nThe workshop begins with a Voice Bath on Friday at 6 PM – a total sound bath immersion in the healing power of the human voice\, accompanied by the celestial drones of Himalayan and crystal singing bowls. Open your body\, heart\, and mind as you lay down and journey in meditation to the healing sound waves of changing vibration\, dynamic tone\, melody\, emotion\, and the powerful resonance of the voice. The work is a series of malleable compositions and improvisations that include field recordings and theatrical elements\, aiming to dissociate the voice from its traditional attributes and create a new logic of song that is not only heard but seen through movement and action. In a multi-dimensionality that serves to both provoke and soothe in abstract communication\, the voice is presented in its spectrum of natures as it travels through cultures\, ages\, emotions and colors\, like photographs\, with tender intimacy and bold aberrance. \nOdeya Nini is a Los Angeles based contemporary vocalist\, composer\, yoga instructor\, and vocal coach. Her music spans orchestral pieces to solo vocal composition\, sound installations\, and sound healing Voice Baths. With backgrounds including theater\, somatic practices\, and world music\, her teaching leads people on a journey to embody the voice through pure expression of sound and emotion\, mind/body awareness\, and freeing the voice in a therapeutic\, interdisciplinary manner. Her workshops\, Voice Baths\, and solo artistic work have been presented at universities\, wellness centers\, and concert halls from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv\, Mongolia\, Madagascar\, and Vietnam.\nIn June 2016\, Odeya gave birth to her first child\, a sweet little boy named Taiga Kol.
