We have bands coming from Cincinnati\, Boston\, New York\, as well as some great in state talent and our final concert is an up and coming artist who is super talented and just happens to be from WV!\nDuring our annual 4th of July car show weekend we have THREE free concerts\, starting with the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast on Thursday\, Ryan Cain and the Ables bringing rockabilly for the first night of cars\, and then crowd favorite Rick K’s Road Trip Will be back on Saturday night followed by a huge fireworks display that will be right over our heads at the stage area this year. DESCRIPTION:Augusta is presenting a new series of foodways classes in Elkins\, WV! The classes will be taught by experienced chefs and home cooks from a variety of cultures represented in Appalachia today. Classes will cover specific dishes such as arepas\, adobo\, tomato sauce\, meatballs\, pizzelles\, pepperoni rolls\, dumplings\, fried chicken\, and collard greens\, as well as addressing topics such as cooking fresh in food deserts\, using local seasonal ingredients and canning and pickling techniques. Students can expect to come away from each class with hands-on knowledge about how to make a dish and hopefully a deeper understanding of the importance of that dish to the people whose kitchens it sprang from. \nWhat are foodways?\nFoodways are more than food itself — they are the beliefs and context surrounding food\, the person-to-person teaching of its preparation\, as well as the community in which the food is enjoyed. The passing down of food traditions from one generation to the next is an integral piece of a community’s identity and culture. We use food to deepen community ties\, celebrate important holidays\, mark milestones\, and enrich our lives. Reservations required!\n\n\nPresented in the style of Le Théâtre du Grand-Guignol\, very still and hard to see by Steve Yockey is a cycle of seven loosely connected horror-themed plays with musical interludes that all take place in a haunted California hotel.\n\nFrom riding in an erratic elevator and dealing with possessive ghosts to managing an ever-expanding hole in the floor armed only with cleaning supplies\, these encounters with the unknown chillingly collapse the distance between the real and the surreal and remind us that\, sometimes\, bad things do happen for a reason.\n\nPlease note the play depicts intimate partner violence\, has a reference to child abuse\, and contains profanity.\n\n\nPerformances are April 13 – 15 @ 7:30 PM in Harper McNeeley Auditorium.\nThe show runs ~90 minutes with no intermission.\n\n\nONLY 50 SEATS Available per night!\nSeats can be reserved at the following link:\nhttps://linktr.ee/dnetheatre\n\n\nGuests are being asked to enter through the loading dock of Harper McNeeley Auditorium\, located around the back of the Myles Center for the Arts. DESCRIPTION:Augusta is presenting a new series of foodways classes in Elkins\, WV! The classes will be taught by experienced chefs and home cooks from a variety of cultures represented in Appalachia today. Classes will cover specific dishes such as arepas\, adobo\, tomato sauce\, meatballs\, pizzelles\, pepperoni rolls\, dumplings\, fried chicken\, and collard greens\, as well as addressing topics such as cooking fresh in food deserts\, using local seasonal ingredients and canning and pickling techniques. Students can expect to come away from each class with hands-on knowledge about how to make a dish and hopefully a deeper understanding of the importance of that dish to the people whose kitchens it sprang from. \nWhat are foodways?\nFoodways are more than food itself — they are the beliefs and context surrounding food\, the person-to-person teaching of its preparation\, as well as the community in which the food is enjoyed. The passing down of food traditions from one generation to the next is an integral piece of a community’s identity and culture. We use food to deepen community ties\, celebrate important holidays\, mark milestones\, and enrich our lives. A wood-chopping exhibit\, a display showcasing beautiful homemade quilts\, and a photography show by the Buckhannon-Upshur Camera Club will all be part of the schedule of events. Different live performances and entertainment will also be held at the historic Opera House. We suggest stopping by the Craft Store and buying a maple flavored pasalubong. All proceeds will benefit the town and used for community projects as well as the upkeep of historic buildings. These activities will have you spending your whole day in Pickens.
