Music at 6:00 pm with 16 year old Lynnlee Shearer. Plans are still in the making so we’ll edit with details as we go. Come eat\, buy some produce\, visit the vendors\, get some kettle corn\, and listen to Lynnlee sing at 6:00 pm. We’ll keep the coffee pot going\, maybe even some hot chocolate/drinks and treats and finish the evening socializing and singing around the campfire with some good old fashioned hymns and campfire songs! Bring your guitar or whatever instrument you play and join us.

Eric had a band with Jerry Garcia before he started that other band…Doors at 6:30 p.m.\, Concert at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for sale at the door ($18)_______________________________________________________More about the musicians:Suzy and Eric Thompson\, from Berkeley CA\, have been performing music together for over 50 years\, in bands including the California Cajun Orchestra with Danny Poullard (2 award-winning albums on Arhoolie)\, Blue Flame Stringband\, the Todalo Shakers\, the Bluegrass Intentions\, etc. as well as in their duo and also in Thompsonia with daughter Allegra. During the 90s and early 21st century\, they were on staff at Augusta’s Cajun-Creole and Old Time weeks\, and they look forward to returning to Elkins after a long absence.Over the years\, Eric and Suzy have worked with everyone from Jerry Garcia (Eric\, in the pre-Grateful Dead bluegrass/jug band days) to Cajun fiddle legends Dewey Balfa and Ann Savoy (Suzy) to David Grisman (Eric\, beginning in their teenage bluegrass years) to Jim Kweskin and Geoff Muldaur (Suzy\, including Geoff Muldaur’s “Texas Sheiks”.)They’ll play a mix of Cajun\, blues and old-time music\, plus material from Suzy’s recent “Suzy Sings Siebel” (a collection of songs by 1970s songwriter Paul Siebel – his most famous song was “Louise”\, famously covered by Bonnie Raitt\, Leo Kottke and many others)

DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 26th running of the Helvetia 10k Mountain Run! \nExperience the authenticity of a Swiss mountain community at the Helvetia 10k Mountain Run. This race is located in Helvetia\, West Virginia in southern Randolph County and coincides with the Helvetia Fair. \nThis race follows portions of an original Swiss settlement trail and passes right through the center of Helvetia. Beginning in 1998\, this event was Jody and Dan Lehmann’s first attempt at race directing and served as the inspiration for what has become WVMTR. Each year\, this race’s t-shirt features a coat of arms from a different canton — or territory — of Switzerland.
