Boiler House Theatre
100 Campus Drive, Elkins, WV 26241
The Boiler House, located on the campus of Davis and Elkins College, stands as one of the most interesting usable theater spaces in the region. Constructed in 1924, the Boiler House functioned to provide steam heat to the College. In 1975, the theater was renovated into a stage theater, which it is capable of housing a wide variety of theatrical productions. Over the next twenty years, gradual renovation moved the Studio Theatre into the Boiler House. In 1997, a remodeling project was completed which included a new lobby area with box office, concession space, and new patron restrooms. Other components of the space included the addition of production spaces and a well-equipped scene shop and backstage space for the Studio Theatre.
The Studio Theatre is home to everything from acting and directing classes to student productions and projects. Equipped with its own lighting and sound systems, the studio theatre provides an independent space for exploration and growth during a student’s tenure at Davis and Elkins College.
