“The thing about trains… it doesn’t matter where they’re going. What matters is deciding to get on.”

“All Aboard!”, calls the conductor, and your family embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Warner Brothers Polar Express. Departing from the Elkins Depot this motion picture soundtrack will have you and your family singing along with the conductor and dancing chefs brought cheerfully to you by the Old Brick Playhouse Apprentices. At the North Pole, Santa will board the train greeting the children and offering a gift for those who truly believe in the spirit of Christmas. Here

are some reasons you’ll want to make your Polar Express reservations as soon as possible:

Don’t delay in buying tickets because this train ride is always SOLD OUT! You’ll want to buy your tickets for your family as soon as possible. Next year’s train tickets are already on sale and reservations for this train ride are required. Each ride lasts about 1.5 hours, and is typically open on select days in November and December—so you don’t have to wait all the way until Christmas Day to get in on the holiday fun. And remember no matter who you know, even if it’s Santa Claus himself, once the tickets are sold out, they really are sold out. You can find out more information here.

Operated by the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad with Rail Events, Inc. and Warner Bros., this hour in a half long train ride brings to life scenes from the classic book and the later Tom Hanks movie. The train rides take place in more than 40 different locations across the country which is why you should hop aboard the ONLY Polar Express train in West Virginia.  The best part of this particular train trip is that it includes a live reading of Van Allsburg’s classic book, plus hot chocolate and cookies galore. YUM!

Take our advice and plan ahead for your upcoming train in Elkins by finding the coziest Christmas jammies for young and old. After the holiday season, look for the sales and deals on matching family pajamas. Although not required to board the train we highly recommend keeping the fun alive by having your whole group wear your pajamas! The train also provides a beautiful backdrop for your Christmas card. Take away your “festive stress” and don’t be like Know-It-All Nick where the only present you buy for the family is a bunch of underwear. The best part about making your Polar Express reservations today is you already have at least one of next years Christmas presents bought. Here is an idea to make your Christmas list shrink, buy golden tickets for the whole family: the children, your siblings, and even bring the grandparents along. You really can’t go wrong when you take this magical journey with Santa, his crew of helpers, and the family. Stroll through downtown Elkins before boarding the train and participate in Santa’s Workshops hosted by local businesses.
