SUMMARY:165th Commemoration | Rich Mountain Battlefield
DESCRIPTION:Meet us at the Battlefield for a full day commemorating the Battle of Rich Mountain! From stories to supper\, this is a day to remember.\nAt 2:30pm\, join local historian Hunter Lesser and RMBF President Richard Wolfe on top of Rich Mountain at the Hart homestead\, where the battle took place. On this walking tour\, hear the stories of the battle while standing where soldiers stood 165 years before.\nAt 4pm\, meet at Field of Fire Pavilion\, in Mabie\, WV\, below the Battlefield for the ribbon cutting to mark the reopening of the Camp Garnett trail! RMBF Battlefield Coordinator Jesse will lead the trail walk to show his work restoring the trail this spring.\nAt 5pm\, return to the Field of Fire for a delicious smoked pork dinner! Sandwiches and a picnic spread are available to enjoy with the whole family! $12 at the door\, $10 in advance. The proceeds will help support ongoing battlefield preservation!\nAt 5:30-7:30\, Andy Fitzgibbon\, Rory Mullennex\, and Tom Hoffman will take the stage to play some old time tunes and wrap up the commemoration day.\nMusic and tours are free and open to the public!

SUMMARY:AFNHA Trail Talks | Rich Mountain Battlefield
DESCRIPTION:Appalachian Forest Hiking Challenge Trail Talks \nJoin AFNHA this summer for guided hikes\, educational presentations\, and complimentary responsibly sourced lunches from \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll hikes are suitable for beginners and will be around one hour long. Accompanying presentations may discuss Leave No Trace practices\, community trails\, plants and animals\, history and heritage\, and more! Completion of five of these trails qualify hikers for an embroidered AFNHA Hiking Challenge patch. \nAnyone may attend\, but only attendees who register at least three days in advance will qualify for free lunch. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuided Hike Trails and Dates (all hikes begin at 1:00pm)\nRain Dates will be the following Sunday\nPlease dress for weather. Comfortable hard-soled shoes are recommended.\nLunch will be provided at the end of the hike.\nBathrooms may not be available at some locations.  \nJuly 26: Rich Mountain Battlefield | Meet at Field of Fire at 1 pm\, or Beverly Heritage Center at 12:30 to convoy out.
