Students will learn how to properly assemble and layout individual pieces of glass to create one of a kind spring flower ornaments in this 2 hour workshop. Each ornament will be fused in our kilns and will be ready for pick up the following week. Additional ornaments can be made for an extra fee\, time permitting. Get a group of friends or family together and have a fun time creating. DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Needle Felting\, Workshop\nThursday\, January 16\, 2020\n1:00 PM 4:00 PM\nIntroduction to needle felting\, Adults\nInstructor: Kate Goodrich Arling \nFiber/textile \nJanuary 16\, 2020\, 1:00-4:00 PM\nOR\nsame day from 5:30 to 830 pm \nCost $40 Members and $52 Non Members \nClass Description: Needle felting as an art/craft form grew out of the industrial creation of large sheets of felt for automobile insulation\, piano keys and other such uses. While those applications utilize machines with hundreds of sharp\, barbed needles to mechanically tangle fibers into a sturdy fabric\, students in this class will use single needles to create both a dimensional heart shaped ornament and a simple but complex looking pendant for a necklace. Both wool fibers and a variety of cotton\, silk\, and other fibers will be available for decoration as students learn this relatively new art.

In this class beginners will learn properties of various wools\, why felting works\, and all of the steps to create and decorate a feted square which can be used as a trivet.

DESCRIPTION:OPEN STUDIO POTTERY\nRATES: MEMBERS $60 PER MONTH\, OR $20 DROP IN\nNON MEMBERS $70 PER MONTH\, OR $20 DROP IN\nIdeal for the potter to work independently in the studio. There is no instructor for this session.\nStudio time is available during business hours. The studio is not open during scheduled class times. In order to work during the Open Studio Pottery hours\, you must posses an intermediate to advanced skill level including\, but not limited too; the ability to operate wheels\, use of glaze\, ability to fire “our” kilns\, proper tool usage and more. \nThe cost includes a great deal for our studio\, such as the use of our equipment\, tools\, includes all firings and access to all the glazes we have in studio. We have over 20 + glazes to chose from. You have a semi private space to work\, and a can store your items on a marked shelf. \nPrerequisite. No matter your skill level\, you should have taken at least one of our pottery classes prior to requesting. Private instructions are not included. \nYou are responsible for your own reclaim clay. \nCleanup: Leave the studio in better shape then when you arrived. The studio is checked after your departure.

Processing fee on credit.\nRuby was born and raised in Morgantown\, West Virginia. At age 3\, she began classical training on the violin which continued into college at West Virginia University. In her adult years\, she branched out from classical violin\, and began a lifelong adventure as a musical performer in multiple bands spanning from rock-n-roll to honky-tonk. In this 5 week class that runs Thursday evenings\, you’ll learn all you need to make a pattern\, cut & grind the glass\, solder\, and frame to walk away with a finished piece. No experience needed. Build your own stained glass window from scratch using the copper foil technique. Students choose their pattern and pick out glass\, learn to cut\, solder\, and frame a finished piece.
