DESCRIPTION:Pottery Mug Workshop for Adults \nCost $45 Fee\, includes your materials \nGrab your bestie (or a few) and create mugs that fit your personality. The workshop will be approximately 2.5 hours long\, but please plan for at least 2 hours minimum.\nIn the class\, the instructor will teach you how to make a ceramic mug from a clay slab. After building the form\, you will finish your work with design and color slips decorating. \n*** The work takes two firing processes by bisque firing and glaze firing\, and it takes about two weeks or more to complete the firing process.\nInstructor Jennifer Boyle\nAdditional cost for extra mugs!

Don’t miss the chance to see this amazing body of work.\nCrawford was born and raised in Hubbard\, Ohio\, and “Ravens Ring Island” in West Virginia has been her home for many years. She received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and an master’s degree from WVU. She has taught art at Davis & Elkins College and at Slippery Rock University. Crawford was also employed as a set and costume designer at Julliard in New York City.

This happens because the clay must reach a certain level of drying time to begin the designing. The design and glazing will fit your individual style. You will chose your color glaze. There is no instructor for this session.\nStudio time is available during business hours. The studio is not open during scheduled class times. In order to work during the Open Studio Pottery hours\, you must posses an intermediate to advanced skill level including\, but not limited too; the ability to operate wheels\, use of glaze\, ability to fire “our” kilns\, proper tool usage and more. \nThe cost includes a great deal for our studio\, such as the use of our equipment\, tools\, includes all firings and access to all the glazes we have in studio. We have over 20 + glazes to chose from. You have a semi private space to work\, and a can store your items on a marked shelf. \nPrerequisite. No matter your skill level\, you should have taken at least one of our pottery classes prior to requesting. Private instructions are not included. \nYou are responsible for your own reclaim clay. \nCleanup: Leave the studio in better shape then when you arrived. The studio is checked after your departure.

DESCRIPTION:Chet Lowther has a solo exhibition in the Maxwell Gallery\nChet Lowther is a visual artist and musician based in Charleston\, WV. Originally born in Ireland\, WV\, he moved to Charleston in 2001 and has lived here ever since. \nAfter receiving his degree in Art Education from Fairmont University\, he taught (and continues to teach) art lessons for years. About ten years ago\, however\, he began to focus on creating his own pieces and opened up his studio and gallery on Hale Street in downtown Charleston. \nWorking with acrylic\, oils\, and encaustic mediums (painting using melted beeswax)\, Chet has created a gorgeous collection of colorful landscapes and other works\, showing West Virginia in full\, vibrant color. \n \nWest Virginia Exhibit and the Hatfield and McCoys will display simultaneously in the Great Hall from May 15 through the end of June of 2019\nRECEPTION TBA \nThe West Virginia exhibit opens on May 15 for viewing in the Great Hall Gallery. The Reception will be announced at a later date. This exhibit is a celebration of WV\, featuring WV inspired artwork. In addition\, The Hatfields & McCoys\, WVDCH will be on display at The Arts Center. American Blood Feud. Developed by the West Virginia Humanities Council and illustrated by West Virginia University graphic design students with financial support from ZMM Architects and Engineers\, this traveling exhibit relates the history of the events that have become synonymous with the word feud.
