Early Architecture on the Old Frontier | Beverly IOOF

Local folklorist and author Gerry Milnes will present “Early Architecture on the Old Frontier of West Virginia” for the November 21 program of Randolph County Historical Society.

The program, taken from Milnes’ upcoming book, details the earliest shelters used by pioneers on the “Old Frontier“ of West Virginia, tracing the history of frontier shelter and log buildings including ethnic influences, construction techniques, folklore, and anecdotes gleaned from old-timers.

This program will be featured during the Randolph County Historical Society Fall Annual Meeting, Friday November 21 at the Beverly IOOF Community Room, located upstairs in the building next to the Randolph County Museum, on Main Street in Beverly.

The schedule for the event, free to the public, includes:

4 to 6 pm – Jacob Stalnaker Cabin open house

6 to 6:30 – Reception in the Beverly IOOF Community Room

6:30 – Brief RCHS annual meeting, followed by Log Cabin program
