The Elkins Depot Welcome Center is always looking for volunteers. We love having new faces to greet the visitors who come through Elkins! A detailed position description is available below as well as a volunteer form. Come be a part of our team and help make Elkins a great place to stop and stay awhile.

Volunteer Description and Responsibilities

Purpose: The volunteer acts as an ambassador for Elkins and Randolph County. Volunteers provide information to the public about what Elkins, Randolph County and surrounding areas offer to visitors.

Hours of Operation: From April – October the depot is open 7days/week from 9-5. In November and December the depot is open from 9-5 Tuesday-Sunday, and in January-March it is open from 10-5 Wednesday-Sunday.

Key Responsibilities:
• Greet guests and give information about train routes, Elkins and the surrounding areas
• Records number of visitors who come into the Welcome Center
• Answers the phone and takes messages
• Keep tourism brochures stocked
• Receives and distributes mail
• Opens/closes the Welcome Center at the assigned times
• Other duties as assigned

Reports to: AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator & Executive Director of the Elkins Depot Welcome Center CVB

Support: Volunteers will receive onsite training. In addition, the Executive Director and AmeriCorps member will be available for questions and assistance.

Benefits: Volunteers interact with visitors and be ambassadors for Elkins and Randolph County. Volunteers get to socialize with other volunteers and the depot staff.
