Department of Daydreams

The Department of Daydreams is a series of immersive public art experiences that artist Nevada Tribble is creating in downtown Elkins. The Department of Daydreams began as a series of temporary installations and now includes a few permanent locations which are free and open to the public. These artworks are designed to invite whimsy into everyday spaces and encourage imagination and wonder.

Patchwork Sky – Located at the Delmonte Market (316 Railroad Ave)
Patchwork Sky is made of a mix of handwoven and hand-crocheted paracord and colorful deep-sea fishing line. Take a moment to look up and notice the sky through the open patches in the art piece.

Frost – Located at Double Knee Vintage (214 Davis Ave)
Frost will transport you to a world of ice crystals and snow caves, the sparkle and shine that can only be found on the deepest winter days, in a rare moment when the sun peeks through the clouds to glint off of the ice and snow.

This project is supported with financial assistance from: the West Virginia Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval of the West Virginia Commission on the Arts; the Vibrant Elkins committee; Davis Trust Company; and the Tucker Community Foundation.
