February 18 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Elkins Tree Board will sponsor a Winter Walk, Saturday, February 18 at 10 a.m. at Glendale Park, Elkins. The public will learn how to identify trees by bark, twigs, shape, and fruit during this free workshop led by tree board forester Linda Burke. When leaves are no longer present on trees, it can be a daunting task learning to identify trees in the winter. However, there are features other than leaves that can help differentiate tree species from one another. Also on hand will be birder Jim Fregonara to assist with bird identification along the way. Participants should meet at the first pavilion at the entrance of Glendale Park. Dress warmly and bring binoculars. Check Elkins Friends of Trees FB page for any weather-related updates.
