Women of Randolph County Walking Tour @ Beverly Heritage Center
June 19, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Come learn some new stories about local influential women and get a little bit of exercise while doing it! We will learn about several historic women including Anna Day McClintic of Pickens, a teacher, postmaster, prohibitionist, and suffragette; Edna Kildow, a journalist for the Randolph Enterprise at 9 years old and one of the youngest ever members of the Press Association; and Minerva Semour, who lived through slavery and was able to provide for her family as a free woman.
The walking tour will begin at 1:15, after the ribbon cutting of our new window display in the Hill building on Court Street which explores the Prohibition and Women’s Suffrage movements in Randolph County.
This tour will meet on the patio at the Beverly Heritage Center after the 1:00 ribbon cutting. The tour is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. Tickets for the tour are $5 for BHC members and $10 or non-members.
