The Cheat River Lodge and Cabins are a unique privately owned getaway located six miles east of Elkins. The lodge and cabins are situated along the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River near Bowden. Whether a naturalist, adventurist, or a sightseer, there are many interesting places nearby to explore that offer year-round adventure.
The Cheat River and Monongahela National Forest located adjacent to the Lodge offer unlimited venues for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, swimming, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, native & stocked fishing, and hunting. Rock climbing, spelunking, horseback riding, and downhill skiing are also nearby.
Built in the 70s, at the gateway to the Monongahela National Forest, the six room Lodge is a sportsman’s getaway. Over the years, its riverside location on the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River gained appeal with outdoor enthusiasts.
Today, the Lodge and cabins attract travelers who desire more than 4 walls. For those opting for a room with a view, the large picture windows, and screened porches with rocking chairs are welcomed amenities. After a day’s activities, the outdoor hot tub, spacious decks, including one that cantilevers over the river, will provide additional areas to lounge.
Choose from a king suite, or a kitchenette with two full beds in our quaint 6 room Lodge. The rooms are spacious, and have private entrance, private bath, and shared hot tub. If the allure of space and privacy appeals to you, then consider one of our individual cabins or cottages with personal 7’ outdoor hot tubs. Each structure is unique in design and décor with multiple bedrooms and fireplaces or wood stoves with glass fronts.
Cheat River Lodge and Cabins has a level of service that sets them apart from the typical VRBO, Flipkey, AirBNB, etc listings. They have an ‘on premise’ property manager who is capable of repairing/mitigating almost any issue immediately….including hot tub repairs. Hot tubs are an important amenity, so they keep on hand an array of replacement parts to make your getaway as relaxing as possible. But, most important is the fact that they physically service the hot tubs each day. This is the only way a homeowner/proprietor can assure the quality of the water, and that the hot tub is safe to use.
