Fasnacht

Helvetia welcomes you to join us to celebrate our roughly 55th Fasnacht on February 26, 2022. And while the fashion in which we celebrate is changing, the meaning is not.
An entirely outdoor event (barring a public health disaster or terrible weather), we invite you to join us from 3pm to 7pm for a celebration of winter, the changing seasons, and a pre-Lenten tradition that dates back to 1520 in Switzerland.
We will enjoy fatty foods, listen to our beloved Helvetia Star Band, wear homemade masks to scare away Covid…ahem, I mean…Old Man Winter, parade with lampions, and burn an effigy of the Old Man in hopes for a healthy and happy spring.
Please join us, double masked [wink], for a celebration that is dear to our community. We only ask that you participate with care and with public health in mind as our aging community needs lots of tenderness these days.
Masquerade – donations appreciated ($10 per adult suggested) includes entry into masked party, light refreshments, toy prize for the children, and attendance to bonfire for the burning of Old Man Winter.

This event is subject to change given the uncertainty of public health. We will be monitoring COVID percentages across the state. If the spread is above 20% the week of our celebration, we may cancel given our elderly community and the fact that our volunteers may be more limited. We’re going to try very hard to hold the event.
