The West Virginia Wild and Wonderful Celtic Festival and Highland Games returns for its third annual celebration on Friday and Saturday, June 20–21, 2025, at Camp Pioneer in Beverly, West Virginia. This two-day cultural event celebrates Celtic heritage through music, dance, athletics, education, and fun for all ages.
Whether you’re exploring your family’s roots or simply looking for an exciting summer festival, this is a can’t-miss event in Elkins-Randolph County.
Expanded to Two Days in 2025
New this year, the festival now spans two full days of programming:
Friday, June 20 (7:00 – 10:00 PM)
Kick off the weekend with an evening of live music, food vendors, and beverages. A great way to settle in, shop, and enjoy the scenic setting of Camp Pioneer.
Saturday, June 21 (8:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
The main event returns with a full lineup of Celtic competitions, performances, family activities, and cultural showcases.
Festival Highlights
Highland Games
Watch athletes compete in traditional Scottish athletic events, including the caber toss, stone throws, and hammer throw. These events are sanctioned by the Mid-Atlantic Scottish Athletics (MASA).
Kilted 5K Run
A fun and festive race through Beverly. Participants are encouraged to wear kilts or tartan. Open to all ages.
Clan Village
More than 25 clan tents—including Clan Logan, Clan Ferguson, and Clan MacFarlane—will be on site to share stories, heritage, and history.
Live Music
Enjoy performances throughout the day from regional and national Celtic bands, including Poehemia, Kilmaine Saints, Waking Finnegan, Starfire Entertainment, and we’re bringing back festival favorite Kinnfolk!
Dance Performances
The stage will feature the West Virginia Highland Dancers, Lincoln County Cloggers, and a special appearance by the Appalachian Scottish Princess.
Celtic Animals
Visit with Highland cows, sheepdogs, and Floki the Irish Wolfhound for a taste of Celtic farm life.
Kids’ Corner
A family-friendly area filled with face painting, crafts, hula hoop lessons, and a Four Leaf Clover Hunt with a $100 prize for the winner.
Food and Artisan Vendors
Enjoy a variety of Celtic-inspired and regional cuisine from popular vendors like Beander’s, Mona’s Eggrolls, and Biselli Foods. Shop local artisans and traditional crafters, including Jennifer Mackenroth Jewelry, Green Cap Forge, and The Larkin Tea Company.
