From train rides and live entertainment to antique cars and scheduled special events, Randolph County is bringing the ‘June’ heat the weekend of June 20-22.

Hometown folks and tourists are sure to find enjoyable family-friendly entertainment this weekend whether it’s taking a slow ride on one of the many offered train rides or groovin’ to the echoes of the evening’s summer concert.

Thursday, June 20th
If you’re ready to celebrate West Virginia Day and are in the mood for local music, head to downtown Elkins for Thursday night’s summer concert series and the weekly Mountain State Street Machine’s Cruise-in. Antique automobiles will line the streets as The Kind Thieves perform at the Rotary Amphitheater in the Elkins Town Square.

If West Virginian inspired artwork is more of what you’re looking for, then swing by The Randolph County Arts Center where Chet Lowther, Charleston West Virginia artist, has a reception for his solo exhibition starting at 6 p.m.

We’re kicking off the 8th annual Follow Your Bliss Festival in the small Swiss village of Helvetia.

Friday, June 21st
We’re kicking off the 8th annual Follow Your Bliss Festival in the small Swiss village of Helvetia. Each year, the festival honors and memorializes Rogers McAvoy, professor at West Virginia University and long-time resident of Helvetia. Profits benefit Kultur Haus Helvetia, and Hospice Care, Inc. From Friday until Sunday, the town will be filled with live music, arts, and craft vendors and local cuisine.

While at the Elkins Train Depot, step aboard the Cheat Mountain Salamander or New Tygart Flyer and see the wild and wonderful that Randolph County has to offer. Opportunity to board a train is all weekend long.

A short driving distance from downtown Elkins on the Beverly Pike, catch the Gandy Dancer: Premier Show for a wonderful plated dinner and the smooth sounds from the Mountain Memories Show Band. The band performs a two-hour Branson-style show of various music stylings with comedy and dancers. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m.

Looking for a bite to eat and a chance to listen to some live local music? Head on over to El Gran Sabor and listen to Kristen Federer play a variety of songs from the blues and soul to rock and roll and funk. She is bound to play one of your favorites.

Another mix in the race is Friday Night Thunder at the Elkins Raceway revving up their engines at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, June 22nd
Head to the Elkins City Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate Pride in the Park. Hosted by Women’s Aid in Crisis, the afternoon will be filled with food, games, live music and prizes as attendees celebrate the LGBTQ community and the notion that love is love.

Afterward, take an adventure on the rails for a Murder Mystery Wine train ride. From 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., become a detective for the evening as you solve a murder mystery and munch on appetizers and wine tastings provided by Lambert’s Winery of Weston. Call 304-636-9477 for more information!

On Saturday evening, the Gandy Dancer will present a ‘Tribute to Music Legends’ dinner and show. The tribute band will perform songs from musical legends such as Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, John and June Cash, Elvis and many more.
