In late winter when the nights are freezing and the days are sunny the maple sap begins to flow and the maple syrup producers begin boiling. The community of Pickens has hosted an annual Maple Syrup Festival in March for over 30 years, and there are even more ways to find maple syrup made in Randolph County! Thousands of gallons of maple syrup are made every year by local producers both small and large. Read below to find out where you can purchase some for yourself:

Besides the classic pancakes and waffles, maple syrup can be used for all kinds of sweet and savory dishes. Try it as a sweetener for baking, use it in dressings, sauces or marinades, or make a cocktail. Spruce Knob Maple offers infused syrups in a variety of flavors like chili and lavender. Blue Rock Farm likes to make maple scones that have won several blue ribbons at the Helvetia Community Fair. Many local restaurants offer seasonal specialties, like maple-cream donuts at Byrd’s House of Donuts in Elkins.
