  • The new-and-improved Elkins Speedway has offered family-friendly dirt-track racing for over 70 years.
  • Relax and cast a line while fishing on one of our picturesque rivers. Or skip the disappointment of a missed catch by trying the trout pay pond at Elk Springs Resort that’s catch-and-keep with no license required!
  • Challenge yourself! Explore as a family and earn awards with a variety of passports and challenges. Try some suggested easy hikes with the Hiking Challenge from Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area, explore waterfalls and Almost Heaven Swings with West Virginia Tourism, or see a variety of attractions with our own passport guide.

  • Get creative! In addition to their renowned folk arts classes for adults, the Augusta Heritage Center will be offering 5 weeks full of creative programs for kids and teens, exploring music, visual arts, crafts, and journalism!

  • Try some old-fashioned fun at the Elkins Bowling Alley any day of the week with a game or two, or try their arcade games. Pro tip: take advantage of their reduced prices on Sundays!
  • Be there and be square at one of our local square dances! These traditional events welcome dancers of all ages and often offer free or discounted admission for children and teens.
  • Explore our small town shops like Counter Culture Concepts, which features comic books, sports cards, and trading cards, including Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokémon.
  • Dive into local history at the Beverly Heritage Center, with newly revamped exhibits featuring interactive elements – perfect for young learners.
